What's coming up?
Our spring bulbs are coming up! We are watching for the first red tulips we planted in the fall to bloom. We recorded our spring data on the online Journey North map that the Emperor tulips have emerged. The children are very excited! An after school garden club will take place during April and May. The club will start seedlings which students will plant in our school gardens. This year students will plant pole beans, carrots, radishes, sunflowers, potatoes and herbs.
Journey North Science Project
Kindergarten students planted 100 Red Emperor Tulip bulbs and is participating in the Journey North science program. In this international science experiment, students in schoolyards across the northern hemisphere plant tulip bulbs in their Journey North Test Gardens each fall. When the plants emerge and bloom, children announce springtime in their part of the world. by recording their observations on a map located on the Journey North website.
